I had a used Hannibal Rack with no mounting feet from a previous project and decided it would be a perfect fit for the LR3. I picked up a set of Thule feet and went about making them work with the Hannibal Rack. The rear mounting fit perfect, but the front required modifying the Thule Footer by notching the mounting bracket to allow the rack to sit over the foot. It came out great looking like it was made for the LR3.

Thanks so much for the little tid-bit of info about the starter motor.

The trick was knowing the size of the nut and its point of access.

Brilliant!!

16mm socket 3/8" drive and enough extensions (approx 5"+) to get you just past the end on the unit - access from underneath, via the end. It might also help if you have someone with a smallish hand to reach down through the injectors to hold the socket on, instead of you trying to reach up and hold with one hand and turn the socket with the other.

Last month had head gaskets replaced as they were leaking oil and coolant.

Replaced the plug wires and a few of the valve lifters.

Throttle body coolant heater leaking, replaced last week.

ARB system converted to work with on-board air system. Removed ARB compressor and installed air manifold off on-board air system in it's place. A 2.5g tank is mounted to the frame on the drivers side where the ACE equipment usually goes.

After many weeks with the Big Blues the rears seem much softer than the Rovertym springs. I switched the rears back to the RTE's and confirmed this. With the cargo load I carry I am going to switch back to RTE's on the rear. May have to order new springs as my RTE rears are 1" shorter than the BB's and the current RTE springs.

Onboard air installed along with a rear mounted Aux Battery. Pics in the Photo section.

The freelanders are a hit and miss deal. I had a good one with no real problems, my stepdaughter has had several problems with her 2002. Get an extended warranty if she does decide to get one as repairs are very expensive on them.

Towed Boat to storage and all went well. Wiring worked fine, only issue was lack of power with the D1 to pull the 4500lb boat trailer. Will need 411 gears if much towing is in the future.

The LR trailer wring harness was installed last weekend. I had to modify it to include a backup light wire to release my trailers brakes when backing. I also had to change the 4wire to 7wire adapter to a 5Wire to include the extra reverse wire and to match the existing boat trailer conector.

It works great so far!

The rear work lamp wiring is complete. The switch is located on the left side access cover.

Finally got around to wiring the 4 Roof Rack Hella 4000's. I ran seperate power wires to each lamp. For now all are in parallel and wired to a relay for power switching. Man are those things bright!

Ran the wiring from the work light to the inside through the rear door seal. I used split loom on the exterior and taped the 3 wires into a harness on the interior running it under the rear trim.

The plan is to install 2 switches in the rear cargo area to control the light.

Thanks Joe!

The banner picture was taken on the Bear Valley Loop trail run we did in 2004. It is about 30 miles North of the junction of I80 and SR89. Check the Bear Valley Loop pictures in the Gallery.

I will work on the loading problem. If you do a "refresh" of the page they usually appear.

Received the CDM radio remote head kits last week and got them installed Wednesday.

Moved the "Charge Guard" from under the hood, to the rear storage area where the aux batts are located.

Re-wired the CDM power leads through the charge guard and finished up with some wire loom.

Check out "My 2003 Freelander" section for pictures.

Installed the required new battery jumper to the new ACR today and the new ACR system works as designed with the added bonus of NO Radio intereference.

Mounted up the light brackets on the Brownchurch Roof Rack and they fit perfect. Also mounted the Hella 4k's and they fit perfect also. Man those 4k's are big! Pictures will be posted in the gallery soon.

The plan is to have the dealer install the new fuel pump while doing the Fuel Tank replacement under the current recall.

Auto Charge Relay Replacement:

The original ACR used for the dual battery setup creates radio interference.(#9112)
Blue Sea Systems has a new model that does not have this problem.

Installation of the new ACR required a new bracket to hold the ACR and will require a new battery cable from the main battery.

The new ACR is installed and working except for the required new battery cable.

Took the roof rack off to re-orientate it for the light installation.

Found a few rust spots on the rack that I missed on the first try.
Cleaned and painted them up before replacing rack.

Also cleaned up some light rust that had formed on the clamps that hold the rack to the roof gutters.
Painted them to stop rust from re-occuring.

Rack back on and ready for the light installation on Tuesday!

The weather has been real humid which is slowing the paint curing process on the light brackets.
